Agro-Morphological and Hay Quality Characteristics of Some Finger Millet (Eleusine coracana (L.) Gaertn.) Genotypes Under Cukurova Conditions

This research was conducted to determine performances of 11 genotypes of finger millet originated from ICRISAT during the growing season of 2017 under Cukurova conditions. Seeds of each genotype of finger millet were sown in a 5 m row with a row spacing of 70 cm and 20 cm intra- rowspacing. In the field experiment, agromorphological and hay quality traits of the genotypes such as days to flowering, plant height, number of tillers per plant, number of leaves in the main stem, green herbage yield, hay yield, leaf ratio, crude protein, ADF, NDF, P, Ca, Mg and K contents of dry matter were studied. The mentioned properties for the genotypes of finger millet varied from 95 to 116 days, from 79.0 to 157.2 cm, from 19.4 to 44.4 tillers, from 15.8 to 30.2 leaves, from 1373.8 to 3786.4 g, from 340.9 to 881.5 g, from 31.8 to 58.6 %, from 10.5 to 14.1 %, from 37.1 to 43.7 %, from 71.4 to 85.0 %, from 0.351 to 0.402 %, from 0.437 to 0.762 %, from % 0.263 to 0.390 % and from 3.653 to 4.456 %, respectively.
