Abstract

Strawberry is a delicious, fragrant and berry-like fruit belonging to the Fragaria genus of the, Rosaceae family. Strawberry, has a very high market value, grown in the open field and greenhouse in our country, especially in the Mediterranean and Aegean regions. This study was carried out in Sivas climatic conditions during 2022-2023 both in the open and greenhouse. Frigo seedlings of Albion, Beauty, San Andreas and Monterey cultivars were used in this experiment. Within the scope of the research, the antioxidant contents using DPPH method of these varieties were investigated. In this study, the antioxidant activity of the extracts was determined using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazil) radical. The antioxidant activity value among the varieties grown in the open and greenhouse ranged between 13.46-13.91 µM TE g-1 KM. Statistical differences were determined in terms of antioxidant capacity between strawberry cultivars grown under different conditions, and the highest value was obtained from Beauty (13.91 µM TE g-1 KM) cultivar grown in open air. It is thought that expanding the cultivation of varieties rich in antioxidant content will contribute positively to the domestic and foreign market in strawberry production in our region and our country.
