Determination of Yield and Alkaloid Properties of Some Poppy (Papaver somniferum L.) Cultivars Under Tokat Conditions

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine yield and alkaloid properties of some poppy cultivars in Tokat-Kazova ecological conditions. TMO 2, Kemerkaya 95, Tinaztepe, Bolvadin 95 and Huseyinbey varieties were used as plant material. According to the design of the random blocks 3 replications the plantations in the experiment were carried out as winter in the Directorate of Middle Black Sea Transition Zone Agricultural Research Institute. As a result of the study, capsule yield was found to vary between 103.45 and 156.58 kg da-1, seed yield between 122.87 and 199.69 kg da-1, plant length between 123.97 and 130.16 cm, capsule width between 40.52 and 51.55 mm, capsule length between 36.94 and 47.50 mm, the number of plant stigma between 11.00 and 13.36, the number of plant capsules between 2.22 and 3.97 units, morphine rate between 0.372 and 0.793%, codeine between 0.006 and 0.092%, oripavine between 0.00 and 0.00%, tebain between 0.00 and 0.062%, papaverine between 0.00 and 0.060% and noscapine between 0.008 and 0.091%.
