Abstract

In this study, it was aimed to determine the pH, lime and organic matter contents of the soil of the Kırıkhan-Kumlu region of Hatay province. For this purpose, a total of 60 soil samples were taken from two different depths (0-20 and 20-40 cm) and 30 different points to represent the study area soils. In the examples, the pH, lime and organic matter contents of the soils were determined. According to the research results; the pH of the soil samples has been found to be slightly alkaline in the entire region with the pH content varying between 7.95-8.43. The lime content of the Kırıkhan-Kumlu region soils is from 0.47 to 26.59%, varying between little lime and much lime. Whereas11.66% of the soils have little lime, 5.00% are with lime, 35.00% are moderately lime, 45.00% more than moderately lime and 3.34% was observed as very much lime. The organic matter content of the soil of the study area is between 1.16-6.08%, varying from little to high. It has been observed that 30.00% of the soil has little, 48.34% is average, 15.00% is more than average and 6.66% has high amount of organic matter. While a significant negative relationship was determined between the lime and organic matter content of the soils, no significant relationships were determined between the pH content and other properties.
